He graduated from the Federal Polytechnic, Bida with Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering [HND Electrical with an Upper Credit] in 1997, obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD Elect/Power) from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria and capped it up as a Registered Professional Human Resources Manager (MNIM) in 2013. By 2014, he again seeks further knowledge at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology where he obtained a Master in Business Administration (MBA – Finance Management). He is presently an undergraduate Law Student in his effort to further seek knowledge at the prestigious Veritas University, Abuja, Nigeria.
His working/professional experience which spans over a period of Twenty years has mainly been in the field of Power System Engineering (Operations, Distributions, Transmission, Maintenance & Management, etc). However, a wide range of site work and related activities gave him in-depth experience of the Nigerian Electric Power Industry (NESI).
His employment history indicates that he rose through the Ranks; from the cadre of a Trainee Engineer (NYSC -NEPA), a Site Project Engineer in an Engineering Private Firm (Elkaris Nigeria Limited), a Pupil Engineer (PHCN/TCN) in the Operations sector to his present Senior Manager position, System Operations in the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
During these periods of his engineering practice, he has attended many Conferences, Seminars and Workshops of the NSE and had served the NSE meritoriously in various capacities both at the Branch, Chapter and National levels. Furthermore, as part of his modest contributions to the NSE, he has mentored over Five Hundred Young (500+) Engineers. He has equally served in many Council/Board committees at the National level. He is the Chief Proposer, Convener and Founding Coordinator of NSE Maitama Branch (2009-2010), former Branch Chairman of the NSE Maitama Branch and CURRENTLY the President, Nigerian Institution of “Professional Practicing” Power Engineers (NIPE), Nigeria.
He has been a strong advocate of change for the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to transform into a Federation of Professional Engineering Institutions in Nigeria or the Assembly of Engineering Bodies in Nigeria and also, for the right positioning of engineering practitioners in the scheme if things within the polity of Nigeria. His commitment and passion for professionalism has led him to write countless Memos to the NSE Council and COREN to demand for same. His agitation, alongside others who joined his unique school of thought have brought into fore the urgent need to railroad the NSE into a Chartered Institute (Proposed). Proposal documents to that effect were presented to the NSE Council (2016) and the National Assembly, Nigeria. His personal Mission Statement for engineering has been and still remains the need to “Uphold the Dignity of the Engineering Profession”. He believes that the statement can be actualized when Engineers strive for excellence and ethical standards that will culminate in making Engineers as SCARES professionals.
From 2016 till date, he had administered the Nigerian Institution of Power Engineers (NIPE) as the Pioneer President. His drive to establish excellence has ultimately made NIPE the most outstanding engineering professional Engineering Institution in Nigeria today. Not satisfied of the achievement so far, he has launched further to consolidate the Institution into the statue books of Nigerian federation by networking with the National Assembly toward obtaining approval for a Chartered Status for the Engineering Professionals of the Power Industry. The proposed bill is already at Public hearing stage. The successful passage of the proposed Bill and ascent thereof implies the immediate transformation of the Institution from being the de-facto to become the de-jure of the NESI.
Engr. Israel E. Abraham, MNSE has written and presented many Technical and Management Papers in Nigeria and at other international forums. He is a widely travelled Technocrat who has accomplished numerous feats, professionally and administratively and has been so acknowledged worldwide.
